Valve continues to expand the Steam infrastructure with the addition of user reviews and ratings.
Users can now post written reviews for games or software launched through the Steam client. To eliminate purposely spiteful reviews and bring forward helpful criticism, users can up or down-vote the helpfulness of each review.
Overall ratings or scores won't accompany reviews at the start of the beta, but Valve may still add scores in the future. Valve says constantly changing games may affect the deserved score, so they will decide the best course of action once the reviews beta ends. Metacritic scores will also stay with the new reviews system as an additional resource for readers.
If you enjoyed a writer's review or discover similar tastes in games, users can read all the all reviews written by a single person. Of course you too can voice your opinion by posting reviews for any games launched through steam.
For any other questions, Valve put together a short FAQ detailing the new system.
