Here's a thing you'll probably never get to play! Namco is bringing the latest version of the Mario Kart GP arcade cabinet over to the west. Mario Kart GP DX is being shown in Orlando, Florida at the Association of Amusement Parks and Attractions 2013 trade show. This is of course the successor to the first Mario Kart GP cabinet.
The cabinet uses a 42" monitor that is apparently a recycled use of the ones from Dead Heat Street Racing, and the software is the same as the Japanese one. All of this comes from reports made by Arcade Heroes. This all sounds wonderful but the catch is that it's going to be super hard to find one in the wild.
I actually had the luck to play the first Mario Kart GP at a local pizza place here in town. Well that is until a tornado destroyed it. It was so much fun! If you get the chance to play either cabinet I highly recommend it. You will not regret spending those quarters.
