Microsoft’s Games With Gold service won’t be a simple one-hit wonder. The promotion, which has allowed Xbox Live Gold users to gain access to a few older Xbox 360 games without charge, will carry over to the upcoming Xbox One – even if details are a bit hazy at this time.
Xbox 360 owners have been awarded with two free games every month that are released at different times of the month. World of Keflings and Iron Brigade are the two games for November, but we’ve seen full-retail games like Halo 3 in the past. Major Nelson was the Xbox man to confirm the existence of the program on the company’s next-gen platform.
“Great news: Access to free games each month is coming for Xbox Live Gold members on Xbox One – Details coming later in 2014,” he Tweeted.
Hopefully the service can see a little bit more attention, as it just doesn’t have the software quality that PlayStation Plus has maintained for so long. Look to hear more on Games With Gold for Xbox One next year.
