There’s a special trick in Call of Duty Ghosts that lets you find where your enemies are hiding, possibly without them even knowing it. It works because of human nature and it involves use of an innocuously useful perk, Wiretap. You can also check out the video here to get the lowdown.
Before that, let’s review what SAT COMs are. These are small deployable satellites that help you locate enemies. One SAT COM can only locate them when they are in your side’s line of sight. Two SAT COMs can sweep the entire map, just like UAVs. Three SAT COMs increase the sweep frequency, and four will show what direction they are facing. They take the role UAVs did in the previous game, with capabilities expanded to what the UAVs were able to do.
Now, this is the power of the Wiretap: you can use enemy SAT COMs as if they were your own. This is especially useful when playing free for all, and this is where human nature comes in. Players are liable to just stick in one spot and monitor their SAT COMs for someone to shoot. While they think they are playing it safe, what they really are are sitting ducks. No matter what combination of allies and enemies have SAT COMs, as long as there are three to four of them, you will know where all the enemies are, practically all the time.
Of course, now that this is out in the open, other players are likely to pick up on it soon. But hey, if it puts players on their toes and forces them to step up their game, that’s a good thing, right? Make sure you keep them on their toes.
