Middle-earth: Shadow of Mordor Announced for PC and Consoles

November 12, 2013 by Andrea Castellano

Middle-earth: Shadow of Mordor takes place within the Lord of the Rings universe.

Warner Bros. Interactive today announced Middle-earth: Shadow of Mordor, an action game set within the Lord of the Rings universe. The Lord of the Rings themed game is set to release on the PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC.

Monolith Productions, the studio behind notable games such as F.E.A.R, heads the development to create a world where "players will explore the dark and very personal theme of vengeance in a world where decisions have a consequence, and those consequences persist even after death," explained Warner Bros. Interactive senior vice president, Samantha Ryan.

Through the use of a Nemesis System, the game controls each enemy to best use their strengths and protect their weaknesses. The Nemesis System also builds relationships between characters based on the player's actions and plot decisions.

Monolith has yet to confirm a release date for Middle-earth: Shadow of Mordor.
