Review Roundup: Afterparty Brings the Fun to Hell

November 1, 2019 by Jordan Biazzo

This is a must play for all!

Indie developer Night School Studio has released their latest title, Afterparty, and to no one’s surprise, it’s great!

Known for their fabulous work on Oxenfree, Afterparty brings players into a new environment, with new characters, and a ton of funny, well-written dialogue! Of course, the game isn’t perfect, however, its pretty intriguing and if you’re a fan of these games, this title should be right up your alley!

Down below are some of the most respectable gaming sites in the industry, check out the highlights for their reviews on Night School’s latest title — Afterparty:

IGN 85

Night School’s Oxenfree is a charming, hilarious, and insightful comedy that makes Hell a pretty fun place to be.

PC Gamer 80

The top-notch writing and superb voice acting, coupled with the visually vibrant hellscape, keeps your interest from start to finish.

Game Informer 78

Afterparty poses questions you don’t expect it to ask, and that’s what ultimately made me satisfied with it – just don’t expect a non-stop rager. As with most parties, there are high points combined with lulls. At the very least, the conversations, locale, and attendees make it a good party to attend, even if sometimes you get a little bored.

Twinfinite 70

At the end of the day though, Afterparty will leave many with a bit of a hangover, wondering if there was more that could have been done with the drinking system and its branching narrative.

Polygon

Afterparty is an ambitious game that works hard to deliver funny dialog and outright laughs. And while it only partially succeeds in these laudable aims, it also delivers an enjoyable, unexpectedly worldly story about what it means to cease to be a child, and to begin to be an adult.

In related news, if you haven’t heard of Afterparty yet, what are you waiting for? It’s from the developers who brought us the wonderful indie title Oxenfree, which was filled with charm, humor, horror, and much more.

Afterparty brings their creative thinking, and dialogue choices to a new level, that level being Hell, and turns it up a notch or two! If you need more persuading to sell you on the game, perhaps check out the recently released trailer for the game, which showcases itself off, click here to check it out!

Afterparty is now available to purchase on the PS4, Xbox One, PC, and Nintendo Switch. are you excited to try out Afterparty? Fans of Night School Studio? Let us know in the comments below!
