Ready at Dawn, the folks who previously worked on God of War: Chains of Olympus on the PSP, are pretty excited about the vast power of the PlayStation 4. We’ve heard over and over again that Sony’s box is the most powerful console to ever be created, and speaking to Game Informer, art and tech director, Garrett Foster, continued to shower the box with praise by putting it above most PCs.
“The power speaks [for] itself. It’s more powerful than most computers on the planet, and it is the most powerful console on the planet,” Foster said. “With that, they allow us bare-to-the-metal access [hardware free of pre-loaded software]. We can do whatever we want to. Even the head of the ATI a couple months ago came out and said graphics are getting held back by a software layer that PC developers just can’t take advantage of. What we’re able to do is take it to a new level where we can literally take advantage of every cycle and try to make it as best it can be.”
The team is currently working on The Order 1886, which will launch exclusively on the PlayStation 4 in 2014. With 80 full-time developers and a piece of hardware that can push out visuals unlike anything that’s really been seen, the game is shaping up to be one of the most interesting PS4 projects.
