When it comes to Call of Duty: Modern Warfare there was some questions in regards to how the game would play out online. While it seemed that there wouldn’t be any loot boxes in sight, it’s not free of microtransactions. With this new installment into the Call of Duty franchise, the development studio, Infinity Ward, is looking to bring out a Battle Pass style system.
There is a new trend as of late outside of loot boxes. More and more games are working with a seasonal pass system much like Fortnite and Apex Legends. This is a system that would unlock new challenges and items for players to enjoy over a set of time. It’s become quite popular and it provides players with something new to enjoy well after launch.
According to the official blog post on Activision, this Battle Pass system will give players new content, but you can expect all the content which would have an impact in-game to be available without the Battle Pass.
The new Battle Pass system will allow players to see the content that they are earning or buying. Battle Passes will launch timed to new, post-launch live seasons, so you can unlock cool new Modern Warfare-themed content that matches each season.
It seems that there is a focus on bringing out a balanced game into the game. Regardless, if you were hoping to jump into the Battle Pass System or not, it won’t be available until sometime post-launch. For those of you who were interested in picking up a copy of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare, the game will be releasing on October 25, 2019, for the PC, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One platforms.
