FromSoftware Head Seemingly Would Be Willing To Develop Bloodborne 2 But Not His Decision

October 10, 2019 by Dennis Patrick

It all comes down to the IP owner right now.

The Souls series was a massive hit as it brought in some difficult gameplay that forced players to carefully maneuver their character around the map otherwise it could lead to an early demise. While we got a few main installments to the Souls series, we did get a spin-off style release known as Bloodborne. A video game that released exclusively for the PlayStation 4 back in 2015 became an acclaimed hit. Now years later, most may be wondering just where a sequel is for this game.

Right now, the development studio FromSoftware is coming off their recent release, Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice and is preparing the launch of a new IP called Elden Ring, a game that is being worked on with the help of Game of Thrones creator George R.R. Martin. Now if you were hoping to get a sequel to Bloodborne 2, efforts should be directed to the IP owner rather than FromSoftware.

In a recent interview between the president of FromSoftware Hidetaka Miyazaki and GameSpot, it was unveiled that the developers would seemingly be interested in developing a sequel to the acclaimed hit, Bloodborne, after all, it was stated that Miyazaki had some tweaks already in mind that he would like to see changed from the original installment. For instance, it was stated that FromSoftware would have like to change some elements when it comes to Chalice Dungeons and Blood Gems.

Ultimately, when it comes to the production of a Bloodborne 2 sequel it would mean that Sony would have to approve. The Bloodborne IP, while developed by FromSoftware, is owned by Sony who published the game. Perhaps this game IP is already considered to be worth investing in with a sequel for the upcoming PlayStation 5, a game console that is slated to launch within the holiday season of 2020. For now, all we can do is wait as we’re sure that Elden Ring is taking quite a bit of resource to develop.
