Sony Bringing Crystal DualShock 3 to Japan

November 1, 2013 by Josiah Renaudin

A see-through controller for the PS3 and Vita TV is on the way.

It’s time to start expecting more from our controllers. Having durable, responsive devices to control on-screen characters is great and all, but don’t you want to look classy while lining up that perfect headshot? Thankfully, Sony Computer Entertainment Japan is giving its community that option by releasing see-through DualShock 3 controllers Dec. 19. These pieces of hardware, called Crystal "color" controllers, will run for 5,500 yen ($55) and work with PlayStation 3 plus PS Vita TV (via Siliconera). Unfortunately, there’s no announcement for a similar device on the PlayStation 4.

We’ve seen red, blue, and even this interesting God of War: Ascension edition, but the return of the clear controller is finally here. We’re unsure at this time whether or not the Crystal controller will make it to Europe or North America, but maybe if we all ask nicely, this pretty little thing will be under the Christmas tree come December.
