When it comes to Sony’s PlayStation 4, there was a big push right out of the gate to get players into sharing their content. There’s even a dedicated share button right on the DualShock 4 controller. As a result, there is likely plenty of users that have used this as a means to showcase their gameplay, screenshots and even streams across multiple social media platforms including Facebook. Now a new move from Sony has disrupted this feature for good and it looks like you’ll have to share your content outside of Facebook moving forward.
It was unexpected but it appears that Sony has completely removed the ability to share content directly on Facebook. This may put a hamper on some players who may have used the social media platform to connect with friends or share their gameplay content. Likewise, it doesn’t appear that Sony is going to bring this feature back so you’re left with using other supported social media platforms for the time being.
Sony has since commented on the service being removed on the support page, but again, we’re not sure just why the company opted to remove the share feature with Facebook, to begin with. Right now, there is only speculation that perhaps this was a means from Sony to distance themselves away from Facebook which has had its share of controversial spotlights. At any rate, we want to hear from you. Did you share content regularly directly from the PlayStation 4 on Facebook?
