You can have your big Ryse: Son of Rome graphics and your impressive cityscapes in Killzone: Shadow Fall. All I need in 2014 is the somber, dark environments of From Software’s Dark Souls 2, which will stand as one of the last big current-generation titles to be released. We just saw the fantastic Japanese box art surface for the unforgiving fantasy RPG, and while we don’t know if that striking piece of artwork will be making it to any other territories, this suite of new screens for the game will available to anyone who happens to pick up the title. And really, that should be everyone who likes video games.
Plenty of terrifying combat can be seen in the below gallery, where swords, axes, and powerful magic is being used to down the horde of monsters. However, it’s the diverse hues seen from the environments that are the most interesting. Plenty of blues, greens, and reds are coming off the mutltiple locations available, showcasing the game’s wide scope of areas to explore.
It’s a truly beautiful game, and one worth keeping your PS3 and Xbox 360 hooked up for. Look to die all over again when Dark Souls 2 launches on March 11.
