Will Call of Duty: Ghosts, this year’s blockbuster shooter coming from Infinity Ward, be the last Modern Warfare-style game coming out of the Activision studio? It’s a bit hard to tell at this time. Plenty of stories have been told in this particular stretch of games, and community manager Tina Palacios admitted to OXM that this particular thread of the narrative was meant to end the Modern Warfare series. However, when pressed about the next step for the team, Palacios wasn’t too willing to commit to a particular plan.
"I can say that our focus and only focus is on Ghosts right now as it is, and we have no other plans at this time," she said. "When we were creating Ghosts, we really got inspired by Ghost from Modern Warfare 2, just by how he looks.
"It made sense for these soldiers we have in Ghosts who want to hide their identities would have the same masks and face paint. I think it would be safe for me to say that just knowing the characters from our previous games didn't have a back story, that's what really pushed us forward. We thought we need to really establish that."
Plenty of people will never even see the campaign thanks to the addictive multiplayer features, but for those who have followed these soldiers’ travels since 2007, hearing that the story could be ending might be tough. The team seems to think this will be the final act, but strong sales and reviews could lead to one more performance from Price and the crew.
