We have another Pokemon X and Y guide we hope you’ll find helpful. This time, it’s a beginners guide for Pokemon’s berries.
Pokemon can hold berries to produce different effects. They can restore HP, enhance stats and even reduce damage. They can also be used to make other items, such as Poffin and PokeBlocks. Berries can be cross-bred to create other berries. The most important thing to know about berries is that they can only be used once.
Your berry growing grind begins when you reach Route 7. There is a field at the southern exit, where and old man and his daughter lives. He’ll let you use some land, particularly, six rows of plots. He'll also start you off with five Oran berries and five Pecha berries.
Planting a berry is a simple matter of facing an empty plot and pressing the a button. When you get an item called the Sprinklotad, you can water the plots daily, increasing your yield. You also have access to composters, and you can use some of the berries to make Mulch. You can add Mulch in when planting a berry for different effects; most interestingly, Surprise Mulch will produce a random effect to your berries.
When you raise two berry trees of different kinds, there is a chance that you create mutations (as in, berries, not the teenage ninjas or nonhuman races). There is no other way to obtain these kinds of berries. Lastly, you’ll want to have some Pokemon on hand while growing berries because you have a chance of catching Bug-Type Pokemon!
Finally, there are two places where you can get Berries for free:
This stall in Courmarine will have a free berry for you. You can get either a Cheri Berry, a Rawst Berry or a Lum Berry. When you're done, he will ask for a tip.
In Camphrier, North West of the fountain, look for his man. He will tell you that he is feeling a different vibe every day. Bring a Pokemon to him which has the same kind of vibe and he will offer these berries to you: Aspear, Cheri, Chesto, Pecha, and Rawst.
