Deus Ex: Human Revolution Director’s Cut Now Available On Steam

October 22, 2013 by Ryan Parreno

Fans share some notes and preliminary impressions.

The Steam page for Deus Ex: Human Revolution Director’s Cut has gone up, and along with it we have some details to share for Steam users who owned the original game.

First some good news: if you bought Deus Ex: Human Revolution on Steam before, you get 50 % off. If you bought The Missing Link DLC as well, that discount jumps up to 75 % off. Don’t log in and check up on your old game save data just yet, though.

As other fans have noted, the original Deus Ex: Human Revolution webpage has been taken down.  Director’s Cut is clearly on a different webpage, and you have no way of carrying over save data from your old game. To add to the frustration, the achievements on both games are exactly the same, with the Missing Link achievements incorporated so there is now one universal list.

Moving on, the game is 15 GB. The DLC, which was previously easily purchasable, is now spread out in the game naturally for you to find around.

Steam Trading Cards are not available for the game yet, but they are confirmed to be on the way.

The commentaries and Making Of videos will be available under a new menu called Extras. When enabled, you will get a prompt whenever commentary is available at any time in-game. Press F for the commentary to start playing.

Fans are also dropping early impressions. Gameplay graphics have been polished, not drastically improved. Cutscenes are the same quality, still low resolution. However, they are also noticing the improvements gameplay wise, particularly with how DLCs have been reimplemented.

Lastly, and intriguingly, the Steam game manual implies that Dual screen functionality is available in this version of the game, but does not elaborate on how. No one seems to have tried it out yet either, so we’ll have to wait to confirm if this is the case or not.

If you actually are in the market for this game not having played it before, the Wii U may be a viable option for you, based on what reviews have been saying for that version. You can also get the game on Playstation 3 and Xbox 360 today.
