Mario Kart 8 Deluxe is the latest mainline installment to the Mario Kart franchise. It’s brought out a number of iconic characters, customized vehicle options and a slew of tracks to race on. After releasing back in 2017 for the Nintendo Switch, the game has laid rather dormant from Nintendo. With that said, there may be something of interest to fans as Nintendo has announced a North American tournament which anyone can compete in.
The grand prize is 2,500 Gold Points which essentially comes to $25 for players to spend on the Nintendo Online service. While it’s nothing massive for players to take home, it’s a nice little challenge to give players a shot of winning. You’ll need to mark your calendar as this event will take place starting on September 22, 2019, at 1 PM and will end at 11 PM ET.
The top eight racers will win the 2,500 Gold Points, but you’ll have to race through a series of maps. This tournament will go through a series of 24 150cc race where all characters and customization options will be available besides smart steering. After you race through four matches you’ll get switched to a new lobby with other participants.
After you complete the tournament, you’ll have to wait a bit longer before the eight winners are unveiled. Nintendo has stated that the winners will be unveiled on September 27, 2019, where the winners will be contacted through their email account associated with their Nintendo account.
It’s important to note that in order to access this tournament, you’ll need to enter the following code within the Tournaments menu after selecting Online Play.
