A good old re-hash of an old classic arcade shooter which involves pissing lead in 2D awesomeness is something gamers welcome with nostalgia. Game developer Atlus announced via the playstation blog that Metal Slug XX , also known as Metal Slug Double X, which was released on December 23, 2009 in Japan, will be releasing stateside on February 23.
The PSP version, essentially a re-hash of Metal Slug 7, will feature additional content, including a Combat School mode as well as co-op multiplayer. Metal Slug returns with the old school running and gunning gameplay and the same winning formula of over-the-top action and cartoon mayhem that’s kept Metal Slug a premier franchise for over a decade. Gamers can relive the old school cooperative arcade play, teaming with a friend via ad-hoc multiplayer to outrun and outshoot hundreds of enemies and liberate as many prisoners as possible across over 70 challenging mission-based trials.
To celebrate the game’s announcement and/or upcoming release, the SCEA is giving a small handful of rare collectibles, so head over to their official website for more details on the same.
