There is plenty of great video game titles coming out and one of the more anticipated releases that’s slated to launch next month is The Outer Worlds. From the development studio, Obsidian Entertainment, there is apparently a ton of potential content to bring out for the franchise if the feedback warrants the developers to flesh the game out into a full series. While we don’t have too much longer to wait, new comments came out that reveal that the developers crafting up this game has a ton of notes for in-depth lore featured within the title.
The Outer Worlds is an upcoming RPG that I set in a futuristic world where players are venturing out to a new space colony that is run by megacorporations. There’s plenty of hype going into this game from the development studio alone who is crafting up the game. For those who may not be familiar with Obsidian Entertainment, this studio has worked on Fallout: New Vegas, Pillars of Eternity to South Park: The Stick of Truth. Now that we’re gearing towards its next big video game launch, it seems that this game could be the start of a series.
Microsoft acquired Obsidian Entertainment back in 2018 and it was the head of Xbox, Phil Spencer, who previously stated that Microsoft is making a big push to feature more strong single-player focused games. One of those upcoming titles is The Outer Worlds and after VGC reached out to Megan Starks, the narrative designer for the game, it was unveiled that the studio had plenty of content already in the works to bring out more video game titles. Likewise, the studio has an interest in continuing the game with more installments and it looks like they are receiving a ton of positive support from Microsoft. Really, the only thing that would possibly prevent the game from seeing more installments if the reception fans have with the game.
We won’t have to wait too long before we get our first inkling of the reception as The Outer Worlds will be launching next month. Players interested in the game can pick it up on PC, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One this October 25, 2019. With that said, a Nintendo Switch platform has already been confirmed, but no release date has been attached quite yet.
