SimCity Cities of Tomorrow Gameplay Adopts Future Tech

October 16, 2013 by Andrea Castellano

SimCity Cities of Tomorrow lead designer walks players through the new SimCity expansion.

In preparation for a future full bionic limbs and processors embedded within human brains, Maxis walks players through the Cities of Tomorrow expansion for SimCity, showing the new technology players can research.

To demonstrate the new expansion, lead designer of Maxis takes viewers between his cities to reveal their finite purposes. While one city researches advanced technologies to spawn buildings like a Fusion Power Plant, the neighboring city works to produce Omega. The highly advanced and increasing demand of the Omega substance creates an almost cyberpunk environment.

After some forgettable launch issues and demand from fans, Maxis currently works on finding a way to implement an offline mode. While many fans would rather see larger cities, the team at Maxis struggles when trying to sustain smooth performance.

SimCity Cities of Tomorrow launches on Origin on November 12th.
