Nuclear Dawn Developer Announces Survival Platformer Dark Matter

October 3, 2013 by Stephen Daly

The game is set for release on Steam later this month.

Nuclear Dawn developer InterWave Studios has announced a survival platformer named Dark Matter which is set for release at retail and on Steam in mid-October.

Dark Matter casts players as the Ensign who must search a derelict spaceship which has been overwhelmed by a "sinister alien presence", not helping matters is a deadly parasite infestation. The spaceship, named Endeavour, allows players to search for parts and blueprints, while expanding their arsenal and customizing their combat style against the "intelligent and reactive enemies".

The game contains levels and offers non-linear exploration and storytelling.

Michiel Beenen, CEO of InterWave Studios, commented in a press release:

"After Nuclear Dawn, we dedicated ourselves to a more personal project, a revival of the Metroidvania canon, but with an InterWave twist. Dark Matter is a fantastic convergence of passion and technology, a dark world to explore, a great new story to discover. We are excited to bring it to a worldwide audience thanks to Iceberg's great work."

Dark Matter is coming to PC, OS X, and Linux and is being published by Iceberg Interactive.
