Paradox Interactive has placed upcoming action game War of the Vikings in Steam Early Access, giving fans an early chance to hack and slash from now until October 4. Paradox has decided this route is the logical next step in finishing up the game’s development.
As you may have surmised, War of the Vikings is Viking flavored War of the Roses. It is running on the same CQC tech, and it promises to bring the same type of intense, occasionally comical, enjoyable close quarters online multiplayer combat to your home.
Players who were already part of the War of the Vikings Alpha can, of course, come in and play for free. Meanwhile, Steam owners who own a copy of Mount & Blade: Warband or War of the Roses: Kingmaker Edition can get a 10 % discount for the Early Access period.
There are several packages available within this time, the best of which being Valhalla Edition, which gets you all the content unlocked, as well access to all future content for free. There is, of course, a Standard Edition, and a Blood Eagle Edition, which comes with a digital concept art book, a copy of the soundtrack, and some additional gear. Whichever edition you purchase, if you do buy and enter Steam Early Access now, you will automatically be added into the Early Access Club. Doing so gives you extra loot, as well as another shield pattern that you can use when the game releases in the first quarter of next year.
