Sonic Confirmed for Super Smash Bros. on Wii U, 3DS

October 1, 2013 by Josiah Renaudin

The Blue Bomber will appear in the next Super Smash Bros.

The next Super Smash Bros. title might be many months away, but hey, it’s still exciting to talk about the many names and faces that will appear in Nintendo’s wildly popular brawler. The Wii U and 3DS game has already had interesting characters like Donkey Kong, Princess Peach, and Mega Man confirmed, and now, we can add Sonic to that list.

Sega’s Blue Bomber was confirmed during today’s Nintendo Direct, with the above image showing proof of the speedy hedgehog in an arena. We’ve seen the fan-favorite fighter in past Super Smash Bros. games, but that won’t stop the eager masses from grinning over his returning appearance.

The character selection for a game in this series is something that the creator has related to death in the past, so it’s obvious that this isn’t exactly a stress-free process. However, Sonic is a safe choice for game director Masahiro Sakurai, and one that players will look forward to sometime in 2014.
