The popular franchise, Super Monkey Ball is receiving an HD remaster this summer. Super Monkey Ball: Banana Blitz HD was unveiled today and will be launching in October of this year. If you were unaware of the game, this title previously released on the Nintendo Wii back in 2006 which follows a story of a new villain that has stolen the Golden Banana Bunch. As a result, AiAi and his fellow friends must seek out the villain and recover the pieces. Currently, the game is slated to launch once again for the latest generation platforms.
It’s an interesting choice to remaster this particular game outside of the original Super Monkey Ball or Super Monkey Ball 2, but fans of the franchise I’m sure are pleased to receive any new update to the franchise as there hasn’t been a main console installment since 2010. The last new installment to the game series was Super Monkey Ball Bounce, a game that launched in 2014 for the Android and iOS platforms. At any rate, Super Monkey Ball: Banana Blitz HD will hit on all the major platforms currently available today and it’s going to offer new visual enhancements and even gameplay features.
If you’ve never played a Super Monkey Ball game, this is a platforming franchise. Players will go through a series of wacky courses while taking on the role of a monkey trapped inside a ball where. It’s incredibly addicting and was a massive hit when it first launched on the Nintendo GameCube. We’re not sure if this is just a means to test the waters for a brand new installment to the franchise, but if you’ve been waiting for the franchise to finally get picked up from Sega again then mark your calendars. Super Monkey Ball: Banana Blitz HD is set to launch on October 29, 2019, for PlayStation 4, Xbox One and Nintendo Switch platforms. If you’re mainly a PC gamer, Sega has made note that the video game will receive a PC release on Steam this upcoming Winter.
