Rockstar has revealed a few new details on Grand Theft Auto Online in advance of its launch next Tuesday, and the biggest piece is that the game will contain a real-money store at which you can buy what they call “GTA$,” or in-game currency. No prices were given.
The blog post containing this confirmation says the online economy has been geared mostly with players who don’t spend real cash in mind. Much of it covers ground we’ve been over before, but there are a few other new features mentioned, such as; co-op races where one player rides shotgun and helps navigate; “Most players will earn cash much faster Online than in Story Mode.”; and an email address, [email protected], set up specifically for player feedback.
Rockstar also warns that some aspects of GTA Online might break as apparently they were surprised by how many people have been playing the game since the offline portion launched last week. Social Club and iFruit features have often been non-functional for many players thus far as a result, so the threat of hiccups at the start of the Online portion of the GTA V experience shouldn't be too surprising.
