Crossfire X
- Developer: Smilegate
- Publisher: Xbox Game Studios
- Platforms: XBO
- Release: 2020
Crossfire is a popular FPS that got its start within the Eastern markets. Developed by Smilegate and released in 2007, the title flourished and thanks to the announcement made during E3 2019, we got news of a new addition in the works, Crossfire X. This is also being developed by Smilegate and is heading to the Western markets starting with the Xbox One console first. Likewise, it will still feature two mercenary corporations for players to fight for, either the Black List terrorist style group or the Global Risk.
The first Crossfire video game was free-to-play and this upcoming installment may follow the same suit but it does seem that additional unique content will be available for subscribers of the Xbox Game Pass. More details about the game are said to come later this year but for now, it’s slated to launch at some point in 2020.
Serious Sam 4: Planet Badass
- Developer: Croteam
- Publisher: Devolver Digital
- Platforms: PC
- Release: TBA
Serious Sam is going to make a return with Serious Sam 4: Planet Badass. The video game will see our action star taking on thousands of enemies. That’s right, the development team over at Croteam has some crazy ambitions, one of which is to get a hundred thousand enemies on a screen for players to fight against which will make those swarms found in Days Gone like child’s play. But, it’s unknown if that ambition will prove to be anything actually possible as we haven’t seen the game really in 2019. At any rate, you can still expect the over-the-top and old-school FPS game mechanics that the series has been known for. Chances are we’ll see this game a bit more in 2020 with hopefully a release date attached.
Cyberpunk 2077
- Developer: CD Projekt Red
- Publisher: CD Projekt Red
- Platforms: PC, PS4, XBO
- Release: April 16, 2020
Easily one of the most anticipated video game titles releasing in 2020 is Cyberpunk 2077. This is a video game IP that is in the works from the creators that brought out The Witcher series, CD Projekt Red. Overall, the game is set in a futuristic world where crime and big corporations thrive. Players step into the role of a mercenary that is trying to build up street cred in order to earn some of the higher paying gigs. If you haven’t seen the gameplay footage of the title yet then we highly recommend doing so. It offers a good look at how large and lively the city is so far in the development process likewise, we get a glimpse into the combat.
This is a first-person style shooter and outside of gunplay, a large portion of the game mechanics seems to involve augmentations. Players can purchase a variety of augmentations that will give them certain edges against opponents or aid. We have only received a small taste of the gameplay during the footage demo shown off post-E3 2018 which you can check out in full above. With that said, since it’s releasing in April of 2020, we expect more footage to come out before the end of 2019.
Dying Light 2
- Developer: Techland
- Publisher: Techland Publishing
- Platforms: PC, PS4, XBO
- Release: 2020
After the success Techland had with Dying Light, the development studio has gone back to work in order to bring out a sequel. Dying Light 2 takes place in a massive urban environment which follows a new protagonist named Aiden Caldwell who, much like the original installment, can use various parkour skills to leap, dodge and jump throughout the map in order to avoid the undead. We know that this upcoming installment will feature a map that is roughly four times larger than the original in-game world from Dying Light and that there will be a series of choice and consequence style options throughout the campaign.
While there is some gunplay, there is a larger focus on melee weapon combat. Zombies and other human hostiles will cause Aiden to hone in on his skills to quickly traverse the world and attack on-the-go. Unfortunately, at the time of writing this, we only know that the game is slated to launch in 2020 and there hasn’t been a specific release date attached to the game quite yet.
Halo Infinite
- Developer: 343 Industries
- Publisher: Xbox Game Studios
- Platforms: PC, Project Scarlett, XBO
- Release: 2020
Everyone’s favorite spartan is back in action with Halo Infinite set to release sometime in 2020. The video game will follow after the events of Halo 5: Guardians and continues the story of Master Chief. We got a small announcement trailer during Microsoft’s E3 2019 press conference. It was within this trailer that we see Master Chief get rescued out of the depths of space. We don’t have any gameplay footage of the title just yet or real narrative premise but we’re expecting plenty more details to emerge during E3 2020. At any rate, this will still be the first-person shooter that the franchise is known for and we’re expecting even more weaponry to be added into the mix.
