As a quick recap, the long awaited update includes some general fixes to gameplay, but has a bigger emphasis on adding new content. Many of the issues with the game have been handled with earlier updates, so now 4J can move forward with adding more content as well.
Some fans are speculating that with minecart speeds doubling, they will now be able to hold minecart races. The better speed will also make it incrementally better than just sprinting on foot, and will generally make roller coasters better as well.
In follow up replies to tweets, 4J has also confirmed that the first few texture packs coming up are the Plastic Texture Pack and Natural Texture Pack, respectively. 4J is promising to show the Plastic Texture Pack next week. They also made vague promises to something ‘medieval’ in the works.
.@AustinHD_AS 1st texture pack is the Plastic Texture Pack. 2nd is the Natural Texture Pack. We'll show the 1st next week 🙂 #MinecraftXBLA

Of course, as promised by Microsoft, one very relevant change involves switching the Microsoft Store display so that it now shows prices in local currency instead of Microsoft Points.
More new fixes relate to Mash-Up Packs. One will allow players to hide Mash-Up Pack Themed Worlds from the saves list. You will also have an option to unhide all these Worlds from the Settings Menu. Another one fixes spawn positions for saved Mash-Up Pack Worlds.
Clearly, fans have been enjoying the new content from TU12, and also the Mash-Up Pack Worlds. Fans seem to be nearly insatiable though, so 4J’s hand will be full for the next few months.
