God of War III wasn't as grand a finale for Kratos's story as most of its fans thought it would be. To that end, rumors that Sony may be announcing a new God of War title—possibly God of War IV—at the upcoming E3 are beginning to crop up thanks to word in the UK-based PSM3 magazine.
The magazine claims that an inside source at Sony's Santa Monica studio says that the game may be due for a September 2012 release window.
Although it wouldn't be a surprise if a new God of War title was officially announced, what makes this one different is the fact that it is set to continue the God of War series beyond the third official game instead of being a spinoff title like the ones released on the PSP.
Based on what the game's designers have said past interviews, the new God of War may take Kratos to the northlands, where he will do battle against the Norse gods like Thor, Loki and Odin.
