Comcept have officially announced on their Kickstarter that Mighty No. 9 is now officially coming to seventh generation technology consoles Playstation 3, Xbox 360, and Wii U.
The announcement comes almost immediately after they have cleared the $ 2.2 million stretch goal to do so. They are now halfway through the funding period, so if they can match this much funding for the second half, they will go way past the current final stretch goal: $ 3.3 million for ports of the game to Playstation 4 and Xbox One.
In an older update, Comcept has also acknowledged community requests for even more choices, particularly, possible ports to portables 3DS and Vita, some single player level/s for Call, and actual production of physical versions. We certainly hope they seriously mean a disc version of the game, which people really want for even smaller games like these.
Comcept has also not been lax in sharing content in the blog. I won’t force you to seeing more spoilers here, but they have arranged for community spotlight updates (featuring fanart), a podcast, and a video interview, all coming weekly. If you’re hungry for information on the game, you need only follow their Kickstarter as there is no lack of it.
Inafune has also worked to reframe public perception towards the project, explaining that he launched the project without any ill will against Capcom. I would not be surprised if Capcom ended up picking up the title for publication, considering their close ties with the game’s developers. I admit, I got worked out with the hype too, but when you think about Capcom’s situation, the likelihood this game will sell gangbusters and that Comcept could use the help, it does not seem as unlikely as it does on the surface.
