Protagonist Nick Ramos won’t be alone in the invested world of Dead Rising 3. Similar to past games in the series, the leading zombie slayer in Capcom’s upcoming Xbox One exclusive will be able to join up with either a local or online player at any time – making the thousands of angry undead seem a little bit more manageable. However, some of the details surrounding the cooperative experience have been altered for this next-generation entry.
This time around, a second player can join in on a mission that’s much deeper into the game than he or she currently is. It’ll be a bit more of a challenge, but if the outsider happens to complete the objective, that quest will be skipped when making the jump back to his or her personal solo campaign. This will allow for a bit of non-linear progression, and reduce repetition.
Dick, a truck driver that finds himself at "the wrong diner on the wrong day,” will act as both the second character and a personality in the campaign. A report on Business Post discusses how both Dick and Nick won’t be tied together at the hip within the city.
"When playing through the co-op missions, Nick and Dick aren't tethered together. This means that they can be a significant distance apart from one another in any given stage," it reads. "Additionally, certain vehicles in the game are specifically designed to be ridden co-op, with one person driving and another controlling on-board weapons."
With better co-op, a bigger world, and at least 10 different endings, expect this Xbox One launch game to make a few waves this November.
