When it comes to fighting video games there are a few franchises this instantly come to mind. One of those franchises that come up to mind is Mortal Kombat, a series that’s been around since 1992 and it’s still going strong today. In fact, we’re gearing up for the next major installment to the long-running fighting game series known as Mortal Kombat 11. So as we get more information about the game, new details emerge about other potential projects and interest from the director.
Ed Boon should be a familiar name as he was the designer and programmer for the original Mortal Kombat video game and has been with the franchise since. We have a ton of great fighting games from Ed Boon and NetherRealm Studios. For instance, outside of Mortal Kombat, we have the Injustice series which focuses on DC Comics characters. As mentioned, as Mortal Kombat 11 gets closer to release, new information has come out form Ed Boon.
Recently, Game Informer spoke with the famed developer and asked if spoke with Marvel previously. Ed Boon didn’t give too much information about the meeting he had with Marvel but Ed did express his interest in making a Marvel fighting game if the opportunity presents itself. He even went on to say that he would love a potential Marvel versus DC video game which we’re sure that NetherRealm Studios would have plenty of fun creating it.
Currently, Mortal Kombat 11 is set to launch on April 23, 2019, for the PC, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch platforms.
