NBA 2K14 Updates Rosters, Matches Real Life Player Performance

September 3, 2013 by Andrea Castellano

NBA 2K14 introduces the Dynamic Living Rosters system.

Keeping team rosters consistent with their real life counter parts adds an important layer of realism. NBA 2K14 will aim to update team rosters through their Dynamic Living Rosters system.

Dynamic Living Rosters will reflect a number of changes from both NBA team rosters and each player. If teams swap players, 2K Sports will update those changes at a much quicker pace to ensure that NBA 2K14 won't use dated rosters.

The developers release NBA 2K games based around previous player performance. To better reflect a player's current performance, Dynamic Living Rosters will also keep track of players stuck in cold spells or players on hot streaks. Their real life performance will then reflect onto the virtual selves in NBA 2K14.

EA Sports also implemented a similar dynamic roster update system for NHL 14. A player's performance will alter the statics of their in-game selves.
