Warframe developer Digital Extremes has confirmed that the title is only a timed PS4 exclusive title but has fallen short of confirming that the title will definitely see an Xbox One release.
Studio director Steve Sinclair said Sony recognises the state of the industry today which is why the game is making its console debut on PS4.
"With how the industry is evolving, this really is the Player Generation. Games are reaching players hands in so many different ways now and Sony gets it, which is why we are bringing Warframe exclusively to the PS4 first. There’s no reason not to download Warframe on day one if you’re an action game lover – it’s free."
The title was originally released on PC earlier this year so the mention of exclusivity presumably refers to consoles. Warframe's PS4 exclusivity will last three months.
In a statement to IGN Digital Extremes commented that: "Warframe is not currently announced for any other console formats."
Following the shift in Microsoft's indie policies Meredith Braun, the company's vice-president of publishing, told Official Xbox Magazine that they would be "silly not to consider releasing for [Xbox One]."
The studio has previously praised Sony's hardware as well as the DualShock 4 controller.
Warframe is a free-to-play squad based shooter which will be released on PS4 at the console's launch in November.
