Halo has become an iconic video game franchise staple and over the course of Microsoft’s line of console releases, we have seen the series present. While the Xbox One has already received Halo 5: Guardians, we’ve already got a tease of the upcoming installment which is rumored to be a launch title for the next Xbox console generation. However, little news has been released in regards as to what the game will actually be about. Now during an interview with IGN, 343 Industries studio head Bonnie Ross has stated that the next installment will be a spiritual reboot.
343 Industries has been working on the Halo series since Halo 4 after Bungie stepped away to work on the Destiny franchise. Fans have since expressed their enjoyments and disappointments with the development studio when it comes to the latest Halo installments. This next release, Halo Infinite, may potentially be quite a bit different. We’re still not sure what to expect but Bonnie Ross did say that the team is viewing the game as a spiritual reboot and over years the development team has found a lot of great learning moments.
“There has been a lot of introspective time to really reflect on what [we have] done as 343. Where have we made mistakes? Where have we hit it right? What does Halo mean to all of us? That [Halo Infinite reveal] trailer we did is what Halo means to the studio.”
Perhaps this next big release will prove that the development studio took all that they have learned with the franchise and has captivated an installment that will not only hold true to how the development team views Halo but also the fans. At any rate, this game is likely going to be kept secret for some time as it’s likely something highlighted during Microsoft’s E3 2019 press conference.
