FIFA 14 Co-op Seasons Mode Announced

August 22, 2013 by Stephen Daly

EA says Microsoft partnership doesn’t affect relationship with Sony.

A new feature for FIFA 14 has been announced, Co-op Seasons Mode. The mode will allow anyone to play with a friend against two other players in 2v2 ranked online gameplay.

"Start from the bottom and make your way to the top of Division One, win a League Title and reach greatness together," FIFPlay notes.

"Additionally, Match Day has expanded into Seasons and Co-Op Seasons, connecting gamers to the real-world seasons of the top football leagues like never before. The actual form of real-world players will influence the experience in Co-op Seasons throughout the year.

"For example, if Gareth Bale is in good form, his Match Day attributes will be reflected in Online Modes of FIFA 14."

This week it was announced that the Xbox One version of FIFA 14 will feature Ultimate Team Legends; which allows classic players to be on the same team as their current counterparts.

The Xbox One Day One edition console in Europe will also come bundled with FIFA 14. However, speaking to Videogamer.com the game's producer, David Rutter, says the partnership with Microsoft does not impact on their relationship with Sony.

"It's great for us, because it enables people to play our game," said Rutter. "The counterpoint to that is it's not unusual for games to be bundled in with a console for whatever reason, but for a launch title to be bundled with a launching title, it's kind of special.

"We're pretty happy, dev team's excited, because it means more people get to play our game.

"It doesn't really [affect relationships]," Rutter commented. "In the same way as on PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360, FIFA Interactive World Cup is a PlayStation exclusive, so we often do partnerships depending on what's going on, so it's not an unusual situation to be in. So FIFA IWC on PS3, if you're into e-sports, or FIFA Ultimate Team Legends on Xbox One or 360.

"We try to do different things with different people."

However, Sony fans may be disgruntled to learn that the Vita version of FIFA 14 is a re-packaged version of FIFA 13.
