Much like Battlefield 3 Premium before it, DICE promises early access to a lot of game content to fans who get Battlefield 4 Premium, now available for preorder.
Battlefield 3 Premium fans should already know that Premium membership gives you access to weapons, maps and other content a week in advance of everyone else. Premium may not be for everyone, but it sweetens the deal for hardcore fans.
DICE revealed that they are starting a new Premium membership for Battleship 4 available on both current and next gen consoles, and now available for preorder. Among the benefits of joining in are priority positioning in server queues, exclusive double XP events and 12 Battlepacks.
Premium members will also get two weeks early access to all expansion packs, including five digital packs, some of which have been announced earlier. The packs will have both maps and in-game content, and have been identified as Second Assault,China Rising, Naval Strike, Dragon’s Teeth, andFinal Stand. DICE further clarifies that Second Assault is coming first to Xbox One, which muddies the waters a bit (Xbox One Premium players get Second Assault way before everyone else?)
As an incentive to upgrade, DICE also promises that players will be able to transfer their Premium membership from Xbox 360 to Xbox One and from Playstation 3 to Playstation 4, which will be getting the game at a much later date. Finally, Premium members will get three days early access to the Battlefield 4 multiplayer beta, in advance of the open beta. This will also be available to people who preorder Battlefield 4 Digital Deluxe, and current owners of Medal of Honor Warfighter Digital Deluxe as well as Medal of Honor Warfighter Limited Edition.
Having all this content paywalled behind a Premium at launch seems cynical to me, but I confess, I don't play this game. How big a Battlefield fan are you? You can preorder Battlefield 4 Premium now if you click here.
