When Microsoft detailed the Xbox One at E3, the company revealed that the console will launch in 21 different markets around the world. Today Microsoft announced that the Xbox One will no longer reach their initial projection of 21 markets and will instead launch in 13.
The following countries can purchase the Xbox One at launch:
- United States
- Canada
- United Kingdom
- France
- Germany
- Australia
- Brazil
- Ireland
- Mexico
- Spain
- Austria
- New Zealand
- Italy
To account for the decreased launch day market list, Microsoft citied localization, multi-lingual voice commands and foreign applications as reasons for the failure to meet their initial launch goal.
For previously announced launch locations no longer part of the list, the team at Xbox will still honor pre-orders when the console becomes available to launch. As a way to show their appreciation for people who pre-ordered the Xbox One, those people will receive a free pack-in game when the console launches.
If you pre-ordered the Xbox One before today in the following countries you will receive a free pack-in game:
- Belgium
- Denmark
- Finland
- Netherlands
- Norway
- Russia
- Sweden
- Switzerland
For the 13 launch markets, the Xbox One will arrive this November for $499.
