NHL 14 Trailer Details Improvements to Goalie Contact

August 13, 2013 by Andrea Castellano

NHL 14 goalies will follow the same contact physics of players.

In previous NHL entries, players couldn't make any contact with the goalie. The invisible wall around them made them invincible to any player contact, intentional or not. In NHL 14, the goalie will lose his invincibility with improved goalie collisions.

Want to deck your opponent's goalie? Go for it. NHL 14 will apply the same contact physics of players to goalies. When crashing the net, players can slip and collide with the goalie and net, causing the net to jump out of its secure spot.

The improved hits detection will also apply to players as one body checked player can cause a chain reaction of bodies to collide and fall into each other. The improvements apply the larger, knock-out hits or even the smallest of nudges.

NHL 14 will release this September 10th for the Xbox 360 and PS3.
