During The Game Awards 2018, we got some big announcements and reveals which were promised prior to the game award ceremony. One of those big video game announcements was the reveal of Mortal Kombat 11 which is slated to launch sometime in 2019. We didn’t get really any details as to what we can expect from the video game but it does appear that there is already one additional character that will be tossed into the roster. Apparently, during a Reddit AMA Todd McFarlane who is a comic book creator that has worked on The Amazing Spider-Man along with the creation of Spawn, made a pretty big reveal.
One user on Reddit asked Todd if we would see Spawn in the upcoming Mortal Kombat 11 video game in which Todd noted that he believes the character will be appearing within the game. Of course, we didn’t get very much in terms of elaboration so it’s tough to say if the character will be available as an additional fighter or if the character will play a more important role in the narrative campaign story. The latter is also hard to discuss as the Mortal Kombat 11 video game only has one cinematic trailer available which showcases Raiden battling against Scorpion.
With all that said, there was an ending revealing a female character next to an hourglass that flowed in reverse so perhaps there is some time element into the narrative journey, but again, this is speculation on our part. Whatever the case may be, we have seen several fighters outside of the Mortal Kombat franchise make an appearance in the previous installment, Mortal Kombat X so it wouldn’t come to much of a surprise to see the game release with new outsider characters joining into the game.
As it stands right now Mortal Kombat 11 is expected to launch on April 23, 2019 for the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, PC, and Nintendo Switch platforms.
