Microsoft Studios' Phil Spencer is set to host the company's Xbox One focused gamescom media briefing later this month according to CVG.
In a statement issued by gamescom organiser Koelnmesse, Spencer commented "The industry is at a turning point. gamescom is the the ideal platform to discuss the impact of new hardware, accessories and software for the next generation of gmaes. There has never been a better time to be a part of this industry.
"It is exciting to see how developers and authors use these new opportunities and create a completely new way of playing."
Reports of Microsoft's plans to host a press conference at the event first emerged in July which is likely to be held on August 20th. The company announced in may that it would be returning to gamescom in May saying they would bring "the next chapter of Xbox gaming".
Nintendo will also be returning to the annual event this year having, like Microsoft, bypassed gamescom last year.
Sony will be hosting their own media briefing on August 20th as will EA. gamescom itself runs from August 21st to 25th in Cologne, Germany.
