The Batman: Arkham series has proven itself to be a very fruitful endeavor for Warner Bros. Interactive. The games have stood out where many other lincensed games have not. The latest in the series, Arkham City, was touted by many as the best superhero game to grace the video gaming world.
The next game in the franchise, Origins, will see a change from the past two titles. Development has been moved away from Rocksteady Studios – who made the first two games – to Warner Bros. Montreal. This team is relatively unproven, but Warner Bros. itself has a number of strong studios under its wing, so we're willing to bet that quality is assured. That said, we're left to wonder why development was ever taken away from Rocksteady, given the massive success seen with previous entries to the series.
While those questions may never be answered, some good news has come about. Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment has announced that registration for the Batman: Arkham Origins beta is now open. However, it appears space is being relegated mainly to members of the gaming press or those with a close connection to the games industry. The beta also claims to be "open," but the fine text clearly dictates that there will be a certain number of people allowed to participate, which draws that assertion into question.
All of that said, a "relationship" to the games industry could just mean that you are a faithful customer. Go throw an application in the hat here!
