The first motion poster for the upcoming live-action movie of Sonic the Hedgehog has been released and it is surely something!
IGN had the exclusive scoop on the poster which showcases our hero, Sonic. As you can see from the poster below, Sonic isn’t fully shown in the light, but fans can get a glimpse of what the studio is aiming towards. IGN also had some exclusive news about the movie and how the studio is handling the project.
The basic story plot of the live-action Sonic movie is as described by IGN:
This telling of Sonic’s story sees him as a bit of a fish — or hedgehog — out of water. Sonic, voiced by Ben Schwartz, finds himself in our present-day world, wherein he develops a relationship with James Marsden’s Tom Wachowski and also finds himself at odds with Jim Carrey’s Dr. Robotnik. As expected, mayhem ensues.

The poster doesn’t show much, but in the same sense, it shows a lot. We see that Sonic will take the form of a more realistic character take rather than a cartoony CGI Sonic. We see fur on the hedgehog as well as new sneakers. When IGN asked about how Sonic’s speed will translate to screen here is what some of the key roles on the project had to say:
“Obviously the poster can only show so much. … That’s a hint at what we’re hoping to accomplish, but I think people are going to see things they’ve probably never seen before in trying to represent speed in this movie,” said Moritz. “We’ve worked so closely with the people at SEGA who are kind of the gatekeepers of Sonic to make sure we’re lockstep. We’re trying to make something that’s for today that fans of different versions will love as well.”
The live-action Sonic movie is heading to theaters on November 8th, 2019. Are you excited to see what the live-action Sonic movie turns out to be? Let us know in the comments below!
