Ghost Song: A Journey of Hope Kickstarter gets fully funded 2 days in

August 9, 2013 by Ryan Parreno

Highly succesful campaign already working at stretch goals, Paypal.

Expect a Metroidvania with a heart coming soon as Ghost Song: A Journey of Hope succesfully gets fully funded after just two days on Kickstarter. I do think the game has a very compelling concept , which made people want to put down their money, but let me explain the premise so that you can be the judge.

As explained above, the game is essentially a Metroidvania, so expect dungeon exploring, leveling up and collecting items. In addition, it promises to have a very emotionally powerful story told in Super Metroid's minimalist style. Unlike Super Metroid, Ghost Song will try to tell a deep story using the silent treatment.

The game is set in a moon called Lorian IV, said to be haunted by ghosts who cannot leave the mortal plane until all their belongings are found and immolated. Exploring the moon, you will see remnants of past kingdoms and civilizations, and even find some NPCs.

The game's developer Matt White also talks up Dark Souls' influence on him. While Ghost Song won't be as punishingly difficult, he is striving for a balance between hard but also fair.

If you read further on, White confesses he has already spent a considerable amount of time working on the game on his own, originally as a Flash game. He aimed for a relatively low amount ($ 15,000) since he figures he can do the programming work by himself, and will use the extra money to hire Roger Hicks to do the music. His plan is basically for both of them to hole up to work on the game.

Now, he has more than enough money to guarantee the game is getting made. Personally, I'm hoping he picks up other devs to help him speed work up, but he'll definitely need more money for that. We'll check in on this Kickstarter and update you on the final outcome.
