Geoff Keighley, director, and producer of the Video Game Awards show took to Twitter today to announce the highly anticipated nominees for The Video Game Awards in 2018.

The list covers a range of categories from the obvious Game of the Yeat to Best eSports Game, best Game Direction, Best Ongoing Title, Best Indie title and plenty and plenty more. The big category everyone is looking at this year, with the slew of great title gamers were treated to, is the Game of the Year contest.

As expected some titles are obviously there like Rockstar’s latest showing — Red Dead Redemption 2, Sony Santa Monica’s epic tale God of War, and Insomniacs triumphant title Marvel’s Spider-Man; however there are some nominations that surprised people such as Ubisoft’s latest entry in the Assassin’s Creed franchise — Assassin’s Creed: Odyssey, and the little indie title from Matt Makes Games, Celeste. All these titles are worthy of a Game of the Year nomination and it will be very interesting to see which title takes home the cake.
