The story of Team Bondi has been a troubled one. If you just played L.A. Noire and never looked into the actual people who developed the game, you’d likely expect the studio to be off creating something new and innovative with the help of a cushy publisher deal. However, a full studio closure and lack of funding for a new project has led the once promising team down quite a few interesting roads, putting its open-world game Whore of the Orient on ice. We’ve yet to see anything on this highly anticipated title, but thanks to a scoop by Videogamer, the first bit of gameplay footage for a game we might never see make it to the market has just been leaked.
At this time, it’s still thought that the game and people behind it are actively searching for a publisher, but that doesn’t mean we can’t at least take a look at what’s been accomplished thus far. If you take a quick gander at the above video, you’ll see an extended chase scene, where a man in era-appropriate attire gets involved in a scuffle that leads to an exchange of bullets. Much of what’s here is far from complete, so you’ll see a few unpolished animations and ugly textures, but this is all likely being done on a high-end PC with the hopes of being released on next-generation consoles.
However, we’re just not sure we’ll be seeing anymore of Whore of the Orient. It’s had a tough journey up to this point, and without a publisher to be seen, this leak might be the most we ever see from the team.
