A report suggests that Wii U owners could soon find themselves buying games from devices outside of Nintendo products.
In a report from Japanese website NicoNico News, Nintendo will begin offering different ways for Nintendo product owners to purchase games digitally.
Nintendo later confirmed that by the end of the year, players can manage their Nintendo Network accounts on their smartphones or PCs. The system will also allow them to purchase titles digitally, removing the need to turn on the system.
The NicoNico News report references Nintendo officials confirming the addition of the new feature. “By the end of the year, we will launch a system where you can purchase (content) from your computer or smartphone through strict account management.”
Despite any positive news, in the last three months Nintendo only managed to sell 160,000 Wii U consoles and just over one million worldwide.
The 3DS however, continues its strong sales by selling 1.4 million units during Nintendo's last quarter.
