The two largest shooters coming to next-generation platforms, Bungie’s Destiny and Respawn Entertainment’s Titanfall, are doing their best to be different from what’s currently being offered. The settings, mechanics, and themes are dissimilar from both each other and the many Call of Duty clones of the world, but both projects will have a heavy emphasis on multiplayer action. Titanfall is strictly an online experience, and according to a recent Bungie mailbag, it sounds as if Destiny will be a more complete game with additional players.
That doesn’t mean that the space epic won’t be playable on your own. Plenty of fans have expressed concern to the Halo-makers when it comes to the single-player side of Destiny, but it has been confirmed that players won’t need other people to have a good time. However, the general sentiment is that cooperative pals will make the overall experience more enjoyable.
"The company you keep, the challenges you tackle, the war you wage will all be products of the choices you make,” the developer wrote. "If you never want to have a cooperative or competitive experience in Destiny, and if you want to experience every cinematic in private, you'll have the option. We believe you'll be having way less fun, and we think you may find it really difficult to resist the pull of our cooperative vortex, but when we say we're building activities for every mood, that includes players who don't want to party up."
The developer has a whole different mindset when it comes to Density, and it seems like that starts with a much more multiplayer-friendly experience.
