One of the most creative, interesting Vita games scheduled for 2013 won’t be releasing until a little later than we first expected. Although Media Molecule is in the final stages of development for Tearaway, the studio’s first handheld game, a little bit more time will be needed to tie the whole package together. Sadly, that means the colorful title, once scheduled for a coming out party in mid-October, will now see life as a physical and digital product Nov. 22.
This story was delivered via the PlayStation Blog by the developer’s studio director, who was tasked with delivering the bad news. It’s not a delay that will push Tearaway into 2014 or beyond, but for a platform like the Vita that could use a software stimulator before the launch of the PlayStation 4 takes up all the headlines, November might be a bit too late.
“We are now in the final stages of development, and have come to the realization that we need a little more time than we anticipated to finish the game; to tie all of the mechanics, story and amazing visuals together into the adventure that we want you to play,” director Siobhan Reddy said. “To give us that time, we’ve decided to move the release date by one month, from mid-October, to Nov. 22.”
That’s not too far away, so you can at least fill that time with the gameplay footage Media Molecule has given us up to this point. After you’re done with that, prepare to twiddle those thumbs until November rolls around.
