Satellite Reign's Kickstarter campaign ended a few hours ago, and with that 5 Lives is happy to report the campaign has been a resounding success.
In the time since our last update, they were able to bring Kickstarters funds up to a total 461,333 pounds, or a little over $ 700,000. This means the game is getting Russell Shaw to do the soundtrack, European localization, and destructible environments.
They have also added Paypal as a funding option, making it more accessible for potential backers around the world. Of course, it is hoped that this will allow them to get through the remaining stretch goals, hopefully raising a total $ 1 million to create the full experience as envisioned.
5 Lives has also included new add-on funding options, for existing backers in the TRANSISTOR tier and above. For 10 pounds / $ 15 you can name an NPC, and for 20 pounds / $ 30 you can name a landmark. You are free to pledge as many as you want, but approval for all will be pending the studio's decision.
5 Lives also used this last update to share with us a mock-up visualization of the game as it is thus far, which you can watch below.
A separate tech demo shows the impressive screen space raytraced reflections system, as developed by colleague Bruno Rime on Unity. The system allows them to create more detailed environments and to duplicate multiple light source setups. They claim that this puts Unity on par with Crytek and Umbra.
The Kickstarter has ended, but obviously this is just the start of a new beginning for Satellite Reign as development and funding continues. We congratulate 5 Lives once again and look forward to seeing the fruits of their labor.
