Activision and Nickelodeon have signed a multi-year contract which will see the Call of Duty publisher make SpongeBob SquarePants games. The terms of the deal have not been revealed.
The rights to SpongBob games had rested with THQ which has closed following bankruptcy procedures.
SpongeBob SquarePants: Plankton's Robotic Revenge has been announced alongside confirmation of the deal and will be released on October 22nd for Xbox 360, PS3, Wii, Wii U, DS and 3DS.
The game is a third person co-op title from Behaviour Interactive who previously developed Naughty Bear. Plankton's Robotic Revenge sees Sheldon J. Plankton try to steal the famous Krabby Patty forumla using evil robots.
Gamers will be able to play as SpongeBob, Patrick, Squidward, Sandy and Mr. Krabs. You can see the game's announcement trailer above, courtesy of Gamespot.
