Everyone loves a good fight. The old saying is definitely true in the world of video games, and today's news features a pretty interesting comparison brought on by a the modding community. Heading the charge is 'gametime', who has managed to recreate the Konami office room in CryEngine 3. Hideo Kojima and his development team were very excited to present the FOX engine back in May, which resulted in a lot of amazement from both fan and media alike. The office space depicted in the FOX Engine looked nearly identical to the real-world photos. Gametime wants gamers to see that the FOX Engine doesn't exist without competition, as he compares Kojima's creation with the images produced by CryEngine 3.
When looked at side-by-side, there doesn't eappear to be much of a difference quality-wise. The only big discrepancy is that gametime has published his creation in an HD resolution. While small, this could still be considered an edge – perhaps the FOX Engine was not capable of this at the time it was published? Take a look at the new, CryEngine 3 photos and compare them to the FOX Engine's creation below:

While it is unclear whose engine will be better in practice, it looks like the CryEngine 3 may have an advantage over the FOX Engine. Though this will probably be inconsequential when it comes to development, it certainly gives Crytek some bragging rights for the time being.
We encourage you to see gametime's full portfolio here. There are more examples of the CryEngine 3's capabilities, which include even more examples from the "Office Remake" series of photos.
